Fascinating, uncommon style as it is a matrix amethyst/smoky quartz specimen from the famous Goboboseb Mountains of Namibia. Attractively set on matrix, the 9.8 cm hexagonal crystal is tabular, rather than more commonly equant. The waterclear, very glassy, lustrous crystal has a very pretty, blush-purple, steeply offset termination with the lower portion being a pleasing light smoky hue. The crystal has striking skeletal features on the both the termination and prism faces. The interior is dramatically enhanced by the two steep negative crystals in the amethyst section and by the myriad of tiny, included Hematite flecks throughout the crystal. Complete all-around and pristine. From the Bill Larson Quartz collection case, of approximately 250 specimens, which we bought in 2023. It was a long-term, very diverse mix on display for decades at the Pala International shop as an educational and fun exhibit. It was started back in the late 1970s.
