Item Description
Amatitlan amethyst specimens from the late 1970s to mid-1980s are a Mexico classic and are far less common than those from Las Vigas (Piedra Parada). This sculptural large beauty features an impressive large crystal aesthetically accented with side cars. Highly lustrous and glassy, the crystals have rich purple shading and the large crystal has a striking phantom. This is a very showy 360-degree specimen. A gently bruised tip to a side car half way up and broken crystals at the base are noted. A back side face of the large crystal termination is dinged, but is mostly out-of-sight in the primary display view. These are certainly only modest detractions to this attractive and highly representative large example from this famous locale. Very few have been found in the last 20 years or more.
