Amethyst with Calcite (rare locality specimen) (ex Henry de Linde Collection)

While Quartz is not rare from Naica, Amethyst specimens are particularly hard to find from this world-famous locality. This small cabinet display specimen is a fine example featuring dozens of sharp, well-formed, lustrous, beautiful purple colored prismatic hexagonal crystals of Amethyst measuring up to 1.3 cm long associated with small white / colorless, vitreous scalenohedra measuring up to 7 mm sitting on a matrix of contrasting reddish-black Sphalerite and highlighted by golden metallic Pyrite. These specimens are simply not available on the market these days, and I've only seen a handful of them over the years. If you're a collector of Quartz or minerals of Mexico, do NOT miss out on this attractive combination specimen that dates back to the 1960s-1970s. From the collection of Henry de Linde (March 21, 1923 – April 4, 2019) of Hot Spring, Arkansas. Henry was one of the most prominent figures in the history of Arkansas mining and mineral collecting. Along with being a miner, mineral collector and an amateur mineralogist, de Linde was one of the founders of the Coon Creek Association mineral club. He was the owner of several key localities in Arkansas including the Diamond Jo Quarry (on the south rim of Magnet Cove), the type locality for Delindeite, which was named in his honor in 1987.
