Item Description

A wonderful representative Amethyst / Calcite specimen from this locality in central southern Connecticut. This piece is a good cabient display specimen specimen of this hard to find material. It features several sharp, lustrous, gemmy, soft purple color crystals of Amethyst which are associated with bladed off white color Calcite and some minor "Chlorite" on diabase matrix. The specimen was part of the collection Allen Heyl (Aheylite) who according to his label, obtained the piece circa 1936. Allen's hand-painted specimen number (ABY 225) can be seen on the piece, which matches the catalogue number from Allen Heyl's label that accompanies the specimen, along with the old label from a business called "The Gem Shop" in Helena, Montana. A cool association specimen from Connecitcut.
