Amethyst with Calcite* (*Calcite is rare from Bolivia)

Species like Quartz and Calcite are common all over the world, but Bolivia is nearly devoid of Calcite, so when these pieces started coming out, it was remarkable to have good crystallized Calcite from any locality. This miniature specimen features very lustrous, gemmy, sharp, prismatic, purple color crystals of Amethyst measuring up to 1.2 cm sitting on crystallized Calcite with underlain green "Chlorite" on matrix. One of the Amethyst crystals shows a slightly tapered termination, while another is hollow in the center and shows a bit of a "Fenster" habit. If you collect Quartz, Calcite or Bolivian minerals, don't miss out on this attractive specimen. These pieces are now incredibly hard to find since the locality is totally finished.
