Item Description
This specimen is an attractive miniature sized piece consisting of a few good quality, sharp, lustrous, prismatic, lavender prisms of Amethyst measuring up to 2.6 cm with white-grey modified scalenohedra of Calcite with underlian "Chlorite" on matrix. Calcite is a very common mineral worldwide, yet it is almost non-existent from the countless ore bodies in Bolivia, so the specimens from this locality are some of the best Calcites from Bolivia. It is not terribly common to find Amethyst from Bolivia either. It is very hard to show in the photos, but the crystal is partially hollow towards the center, and it exhibits the "Fenster" or "window" habit that was rarely seen from this discovery. This piece is remarkable for Bolivia as it features a type of crystallization that is rarely seen from Bolivia. This is one of the better pieces of this specific habit from the find. Valued at $250.
