Amethyst with Calcite* (*Calcite is rare from Bolivia)

Item Description

This specimen is a good cabinet size piece consisting of good quality, sharp, gemmy, lustrous, prismatic, purple prisms of Amethyst showing slight scepter habits and measuring up to 2.3 cm which are associated with white/colorless sharp, gemmy, modified scalenohedra of Calcite with minor underlain greenish "Chlorite" on matrix. This piece is remarkable for Bolivia if for no other reason than the fact that Calcite is virtually unheard of from any locality in the entire county, and this locality at Bombori has certainly produced the best crystallized Calcites from Bolivia extant. A fine matrix piece and very attractive compared to most from Bombori. This is one of the better pieces from the find for quality, and it's worth picking up.
