Item Description

This specimen is an attractive small cabinet piece consisting of good quality, sharp, very gemmy, rather lustrous, prismatic, purple prisms of Amethyst measuring up to 15 mm associated with white/grey, modified rhombohedra of Calcite sitting on minor underlain "chlorite" on matrix. One of the Amethyst shows a slight scepter habit termination, and another shows a very slight "reverse" scepter habit termination as well. This piece is remarkable for Bolivia if for no other reason than the fact that Calcite is virtually unheard of from any locality in the entire county, and this locality at Bombori has certainly produced the best crystallized Calcites from Bolivia extant. A fine little matrix piece and very attractive compared to most from Bombori.
