Amethyst with Calcite* (*Calcite is rare from Bolivia)

Item Description

This specimen is an attractive small miniature piece consisting of a few good quality, sharp, gemmy, rather lustrous (more lustrous than most from this locality), prismatic, purple prisms of Amethyst - including one crystal that shows a tiny "reverse scepter" habit termination - measuring up to 12 mm associated with white/colorless modified rhombohedra of Calcite on a matrix. This piece is remarkable for Bolivia as Calcite is virtually unheard of from any locality in this country, and Bombori has certainly produced the best Calcites from Bolivia extant. A fine matrix piece and very attractive compared to most from Bombori.
