Amethyst with Calcite* (*Calcite is rare from Bolivia)

Item Description

This specimen is an attractive small miniature piece consisting of a few good quality, sharp, gemmy, lustrous, prismatic, lavender prisms of Amethyst measuring up to 17 mm associated with white/grey, modified rhombohedra of Calcite sitting on minor underlain "chlorite" on matrix. One of the Amethyst shows a slight "reverse" scepter habit termination. This piece is remarkable for Bolivia as Calcite is virtually unheard of from any locality, and this locality has certainly produced the best Calcites from Bolivia extant. A fine little matrix piece and very attractive compared to most from Bombori.
