Two generations of beautiful glassy amethyt crystals richly accented with contrasting creamy calcite rhombs cover the matrix plate on this rich and excellent specimen from the silver famous mines at Guanajuato. This classic old-style piece features both sparkly translucent grape-purple amethyst points and pretty lighter blush-purple crystals. Many of the crystals have slightly darker phantoms, adding pizzazz. Amethyst is a desirable species from here and is well covered in the current Mineralogical Record Mexico-VII Special Issue article on the Guanjuato District. Pristine.
