Amethyst / Smoky Quartz (doubly-terminated ''floater'' skeletal crystal)

Item Description

Of the thousands of world localities for Quartz, some of the most impressive and desirable examples in recent years are the superb quality crystals from the Goboboseb Mountain in Namibia. It's a misnomer that these pieces are found at Brandberg, as they are actually found at the mountain which lies about 8 miles away from there. This specimen is a fine quality, aesthetic, very sharp, lustrous, notably gemmy, compressed Quartz crystal showing a mix of intense purple hues, rich smoky colors and colorless zones. The crystal is actually a doubly-terminated "floater" and shows very attractive defined skeletal (sometimes called "fenster") faces all over. These are typically the kind of crystals that features small enhydro water bubbles, as I played with it for a few minutes to see if I could get anything to move inside, but to no avail. Valued at $2,500, and considering that very few of these pieces are coming out now, it's a great piece to add to any Quartz suite or a collection African minerals.
