Item Description

Two prominent amethyst scepters along with a smaller scepter on the side proudly dominate this sculptural and impressive large specimen from this classic, but extinct South Korea locality, well-known for sceptered amethyst specimens. The impressive large scepter head is 4.6 cm tall and is 5.5 cm tall with the quartz stalk. The 2nd sceptered crystal is 3.8 cm tall with the stalk and the small end scepter is 2.5 cm tall. Additional quartz crystals on the matrix, some with subtle amethyst scepters, reach up to 2.7 cm tall and add much character to the piece. The two large amethyst scepters are partially doubly terminated and backlighting reveals striking chevron-shaped rich purple to nearly colorless zoning within the bright satin luster, rich purple prism faces. The patches of white quartz on the amethyst heads add real pizzazz. Very nearly pristine, with only a small termination edge bruise to the second largest amethyst head. Ex Kurt Hefendehl Collection, a well-known German collector who amassed a world-wide collection of over 6000 pieces. Very fine and sculptural large amethyst from the noted locale. Matrix specimens of this size are seldom on the market. A South Korea classic.
