Item Description

Eight striking stellate sprays of quartz points are dramatically crowned by beautiful, gemmy and lustrous, purple amethyst SCEPTERS with stepped-growth faces on this outstanding, rich and aesthetic specimen from famous Las Vigas (Piedra Parada). The trident set of scepters is remarkable and the large nearby isolated scepter is 2.8 cm tall. More stellate sprays of quartz points, some with faint amethyst hues richly cover this sculptural and very attractive plate. Older material from the locality. Formerly in the Norm and Roz Pellman Collection, well-known and sophisticated Arizona collectors. Norm passed away in 2004. A dealer acquired a portion of their very fine collection in September, 2006 and priced this exceptional piece at $3000 - probably high at the time, but then the Pellmans had a very reputable name and a reputation for perfection and high quality, so people wanted their pieces! Ex Bill Severance Collection, a well-known Pennsylvania collector who passed away in January 2023. The piece has several excellent display views. It is pristine.
