Item Description

Deer Hill is probably the most famous locality in Maine for Amethyst specimens, but one rarely sees specimens like this on the market. This is a very aesthetic display specimen featuring a pronounced, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, fine purple colored Amethyst scepter sitting on milky white Quartz with a couple smaller secondary Amethyst crystals on the lower portion of the piece. The piece is complete on the front / display side, but it's contacted on the back where it was removed from the pocket. The Amethyst portion of the piece has more luster than the underlying white / milky Quartz to really allow the Amethyst to stand out. If you collect Quartz, minerals of New England, or specifically Maine, don't miss out on this showy and good quality specimen of this hard to find material. The piece comes with a label from noted field collector and dealer Stan Perham (Perham's of West Paris), and states the piece was found in 1956. Valued at $1,750.
