Item Description
The Little Giant Basin in San Juan County has produced some very attractive Quartz specimens, including fine skeletal and scepter Amethyst specimens. This piece is an excellent, gemmy, sharp, lustrous, pale purple scepter crystal that is complete on all sides, but the MOST interesting aspect of the piece is the fact that it hosts a MOVABLE WATER BUBBLE near the termination. When you rotate the Quartz crystal as little as about 45 degrees, you can see the water moving. You can see a video of the bubble moving at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9wPkLDPxfg. We've seen a decent number of new specimens coming out of this area over the last few years, but rarely have we encountered a true "enhydro" Amethyst. The piece is great shape overall. This particular piece was collected by noted San Juan collector, Mark Mahlum in 2006 and is a great example of the type of specimens that can be found in the Little Giant Basin.
