Item Description

The famous Amethyst specimens from Veracruz are among the most well-known, celebrated and finest examples of crystallized Amethyst in the world. Many older labels have these pieces coming from "Las Vigas", but this is actually the name of a city called Las Vigas de Ramirez in the Mexican state of Veracruz, and it's the home of many of the miners who collected these specimens. To complicate things more, the city lies within a municipality called Las Vigas de Ramirez, so there have been all sorts of labeling issues over the years. It is confirmed though that these beautiful Amethyst are in fact from Piedra Parada, and have been coming out for the better part of the last 50+ years. This specimen is an elegant and eye-catching small cabinet featuring several fine quality, very sharp, lustrous, gemmy, beautiful light purple color hexagonal prisms of Amethyst, free of matrix. Two of the crystals show excellent scepter habit growth, and the largest crystal on the front of the piece is doubly-terminated. The piece is complete all around with no major damage whatsoever, I could only see a few tiny "flea bites", but I needed a loupe to see them. Great quality all around and a very aesthetic example of this classic material. Valued at $1,000.
