Item Description

Of the thousands of Quartz crystals found from the Brandberg Area, a very small percentage of them have color like this piece. This is from an older find in the Goboboseb Mts, and features a very sharp, lustrous, gemmy, prismatic hexagonal crystal of Quartz with rich Siberian purple Amethyst color throughout 75% of the piece. The base of the crystal is essentially colorless, but the majority of the piece is the darkest hue I've ever seen for Amethyst from this area. The color incredibly saturated and you need a strong light to get the color to come through all the way. With strong backlighting, you can see the intense purple hue, with slight red flashes (possibly from Hematite inclusions?). There is a bit of etching on the surface, but the crystal is complete all around. You simply don't see these on the market, and it's a must-have for any fan of Quartz/Amethyst, gem crystals or minerals from Namibia/Africa. A fantastic specimen of these now classic Quartz crystal dating back to what was an earlier discovery based upon the information from those who are very familiar with the material.
