Item Description

A wonderful example of these now hard to find Amethyst specimens from Bombori. This miniature size piece features a good quality, sharp, gemmy, lustrous, prismatic, purple color crystals of Amethyst featuring the rarely seen "reverse scepter" habit measuring up to 1.6 cm associated with lustrous modified rhombohedra of Calcite matrix. The underlain green mineral for years was labeled as "Chlorite", but it's important to mention here that it is actually Celadonite. Please note that Calcite is a rather rare species from Bolivia, and while the Calcites on this specimen are not world-class, they're good for Bolivia. The Amethyst crystals on the piece are remarkable for Bolivia as it features a type of crystallization that is virtually unheard of from this country. A good display quality specimen from a find dating back nearly 20 years (early 2000s), and nothing has been found since.
