Item Description
I realize that a specimen of Quartz and Calcite is not what most people consider to be rare, but Calcite as a crystallized species is actually VERY rare from Bolivia, which makes this piece an interesting novelty. Back in the early to mid 2000s, there were some really attractive and unique specimens of Amethyst and Calcite that came out of Bombori. These piece often feature scepter and "reverse" scepter habit Quartz crystals, typically with superb luster, form and gemminess. This miniature specimen is an attractive hosts many excellent quality, sharp, GEM/gemmy, prismatic, lavender Amethyst crystals that show very distinct scepter habits (one shows a tapered "reverse" scepter habit) along with simple prisms measuring up to 1.4 cm sitting on translucent, modified rhombic Calcite with a thin layer of underlain green "Chlorite" on matrix. I would say this is one of the better pieces from the find for quality, aesthetics, diversity of crystal habits and overall appeal. A cool association specimen of this now very hard to find material. If you missed out on these several years ago, don't pass this one up, as the locality has produced nothing for a decade now.
