Item Description

The pieces from Bombori might look to basic to a novice collector, but if you have experience with Bolivian minerals, you know that this is actually rare for the simple fact that it features crystallized Calcite - which is practically impossible to find in any Bolivian locality. This combined with the beautiful scepter and "reverse" scepter habit Amethyst crystals at this locality make these some really worthwhile specimens for what they are. This toenail sized piece features very good quality, lustrous, gemmy, sharp, attractive purple color "reverse" scepter habit crystals (the largest is actually doubly-terminated!) of Amethyst measuring up to 2.6 cm which are sitting on sharp, modified, white/colorless, rhombohedra of Calcite with a bit of green underlain "Chlorite". This is one of the best smaller pieces that I've had to offer in the auctions in terms of quality, aesthetics, attractive crystal habits and overall appeal. As I mentioned Calcite is genuinely a rare species from Bolivia, and the crystals from Bombori are the best examples of Bolivian Calcite known from the entire country. There are very few of these specimens left, as the locality is finished and nothing has been found for over a decade. If you are a Quartz collector, get your hands on one now.
