Item Description

The Mex-Tex Mine near Bingham, New Mexico is famous for its colorful secondary ore minerals and Fluorites, but Amethyst not terribly common to find at this mine. This particular specimen might be the best piece of Amethyst that we've ever had to offer from this mine, and it has a beautiful Fluorite association to boot! This cabinet sized display specimen is loaded with sharp, well-formed, hexagonal, light purple colored crystals of Amethyst measuring up to 1.8 cm long sitting on limestone host rock matrix. The center of the specimen features a few gemmy, blue-green colored cubic Fluorite crystals measuring up to 2.0 cm. The combination of the two minerals makes for a wonderful contrast in color. The periphery is contacted where the piece was removed from the pocket wall, but overall it's a good quality and highly displayable piece from this famous locality.
