Amethyst & Quartz (uncommon locale)

An aesthetic cluster of amethyst crystals at the apex dramatically dominates this sculptural cluster of amethyst and quartz crystals. The rich grape-purple hues are strikingly concentrated in the sharp terminations. Both the amethyst and quartz crystals are transparent to translucent with satin luster faces. Gentle bruising to the large amethyst tip, mostly out-of-sight on the back and a bit of termination edge wear to the secondary crystal are noted, but are certainly modest detractons. This impressive specimen is from the more obscure area of Zimbabwe, the Chiredzi District, best known for sceptered amethyst specimens. The basal periphery wear in the front is noted, but is certainly a modest detraction. The base has been sawed to enhance the display. Amethyst and quartz combinations of this quality are very uncommon from here. Valued at $2000.
