Item Description

A unique, very showy and unusual CABINET specimen from Irai, Brazil. The glassy, amethyst crystals, with gem-like, water-clear, colorless terminations are hosts to about 7 hollow quartz casts after extremely elongated, sharp pseudohexagonal calcite crystals! The quartz pseudos are actually epimorphs, i.e. casts after calcite crystals, which have been dissolved away and are partially hollow. The large epimorph is 4.5 cm. Distinctive and rare material from this noted locale from the Jaime Bird Collection. These hollow casts are really nifty and striking.
