Amethyst on Smoky Quartz/Quartz

Excellent and uncommon small cabinet amethyst from a singular 1988 find at this obscure Inyo County locale. A sculptural cluster of intergrown, translucent variable purple amethyst crystals with satin luster faces is aesthetically nestled on the sawed massive smoky quartz grading to milky quartz matrix. The large stacked crystal on the right side, at 4.0 cm, is an uncommon partial scepter, having two scepter faces on the right side of the crystal. Backlighting highlights the interior phantoms and the variable purple color hues. The primary crystals are damage free. Bruised tips to a couple of secondary crystals at the top and the basal periphery wear are noted, but are certainly modest detractions. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. A choice example from the find and displays well without aid. He almost certainly collected this himself, as he was known for this and other locales!
