Item Description

Pretty light purple gemmy amethyst points with satin lustre faces totally cover the large banded quartz matrix plate on this rich and excellent specimen from the famous Valenciana Mine at Guanajuato. The crystals reach about 1.4 cm on this colorful piece. A bonus on the bottom of the plate are platy clusters of adularia (a Feldspar) variety valencianite, named after the mine they were discovered in. Amethyst is a signature species from this renowned silver-gold mine along with silver species and this is a classic large combination example.
