Item Description

Pretty translucent to transparent blush-purple amethyst crystals with satin lustre faces along with a few smoky quartz crystals are dramatically and aesthetically stacked on the sawed small cabinet milky quartz matrix. The prisms reach 2.1 cm and the striking crystals are pristine. Amethyst specimens of this quality and richness are rare from this obscure Inyo County smoky quartz and amethyst locality from a 1988 find. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011. A very fine and rare Inyo County amethyst.
