VERY RARE and impressive large combination material from this obscure mining area in Aguascalientes State, Mexico. A striking 9.3 cm pod of translucent pretty variable zoned amethyst crystals with satin lustre faces dramatically dominates the large two-sided rib plate studded with glassy light straw-yellow dogtooth calcite crystals, to about 2.8 cm. MINDAT lists 14 mines in the Asientos area including the Santa Francisca, with NO mineral specimen photos. In fact, Quartz (Amethyst) and Calcite are NOT listed as species present. Essentially pristine for all the crystal density, with only trivial periphery wear to the amethyst and calcite. Pink calcite fluorescence. From the collection of Gary Weaver, who passed away in 2019. An important, perhaps UNIQUE large combination from the obscure locale.
