Item Description

This is a gorgeous and large amethyst that immediately strikes you as a weird combination of color and shape, and association....so we looked it up in Chet's catalog quickly. It is from New Jersey, a famous old discovery, and is the best we have seen for sale in my own career, at least, of this reported find. Rich deep grape-purple to purple, glassy and lustrous amethyst crystals, to 2.0 cm, are nicely clustered atop a large blocky matrix of amethyst and numerous sprays of quartz casts of white Anhydrite prisms; all on this RARE combination from the famous and extinct Prospect Park trap rock quarry. The noted bruising has minimal impact to the over importance of this piece. Prospect Park produced the finest amethyst from any New Jersey trap rock quarry. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection No. 0588 CL and acquired in 1995. Amethyst specimens are very uncommon from Prospect Park and these amethysts have great color and are in association with contrasting anhydrite.
