Item Description

Easily some of the most classic and recognizable Amethyst specimens around are those from Las Vigas. The best of these specimens are exemplary and highly sought by collectors. This specimen features an aesthetic group of predominant, GEM/gemmy, glassy, very sharp, purple color, prismatic hexagonal crystals (several are doubly-terminated) of Amethyst with a few accessory crystals and a minor amount of wonderfully contrasting pistachio green Epidote at the base. The piece is in great shape overall, and is incredibly aesthetic as the photos show. To find good purple, gemmy crystals with Epidote is arguably the top criteria for a Las Vigas Amethyst. A lovely specimen from the Richard A. Kosnar collection. Valued at $1500-$1800 for the quality, gemminess, aesthetics and the fact that several crystals are doubly-terminated, which is very hard to find from this locality.
