Amethyst ("Fenster" habit) with Calcite* (*Calcite is rare from Bolivia)

Item Description

This specimen is an attractive miniature piece hosting a good quality, sharp, translucent lustrous, prismatic, lavender prism of Amethyst measuring 2.6 cm associated with white modified scalenohedra of Calcite with underlain green "Chlorite" sitting on matrix. The Amethyst crystal shows a well-defined "Fenster" (window) habit, with notably skeletal faces. This piece is remarkable for Bolivia both from the standpoint of the Amethyst crystals and the associated Calcite, as Calcite is virtually unheard of from any locality in this country, and Bombori has certainly produced the best Calcites from Bolivia extant. A fine matrix piece and very attractive compared to many from Bombori.
