Item Description
This specimen is a great small cabinet size piece consisting of good quality, sharp, gemmy, highly lustrous, prismatic, purple crystals (one is a doubly-terminated crystal with a cool "reverse" scepter on the end - see the left side of the close up photo) of Amethyst measuring to 2.4 cm sitting atop white/colorless, sharp, lustrous, modified scalenohedra of Calcite on underlain forest-green color "Chlorite" on matrix. This piece is remarkable for Bolivia as it is from an "Alpine-type" locality, and features a type of crystallization that is virtually unheard of from Bolivia. This is one of the better pieces from the find for quality, aesthetics and overall appeal. There are few of these left, so if you are a Quartz collector, get your hands on one now, as the mine has produced nothing in nearly 3 years.
