Amethyst (doubly-terminated) on matrix

Some of the finest quality and diverse Quartz specimens in the world come from the Goboboseb Mountain in Namibia. Truly most of these specimens are labeled as Brandberg, but the actual pieces from from the mountain which is about 8 miles away from there. This specimen features a very good quality RICH purple Amethyst crystal with superb, sharp, lustrous faces measuring 5.2 cm long and aesthetically flaring off matrix. The crystal is doubly-terminated to boot! The piece looks better in person, it was somewhat difficult to photograph. The color is so saturated for the size, and even shows the rarely seen "red flash" in certain lighting. Nearly perfect on the display side (I can see a tiny "rub" near the termination), but the intense color, beautiful form / appearance and great internal gemminess make up for it. The piece was originally priced at $1,500, and considering that very few of these pieces are coming out now, it's a great piece to add to any Quartz suite or a collection African minerals.
