Item Description
A classic, rich and sculptural large amethyst from the famous basalt deposits of Artigas, Uruguay. The impressive elongated mounded 360-degree knob is covered with beautiful, very glassy, variable rich grape-purple amethyst points, to about 1.5 cm. Complete all-around and nearly pristine. The primary display view is pristine, with the bit of bruising on the back being out-of-sight. The underlying banded matrix adds a dramatic visual aspect to the piece. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. Classic, colorful and shapely amethyst from Artigas.
