Amethyst and Smoky Quartz (phantom crystal) (ex Brian Kosnar Collection)

Item Description

Some of the finest quality and diverse Quartz specimens in the world come from the Goboboseb Mountain in Namibia. Truly most of these specimens are labeled as Brandberg, but the actual pieces from from the mountain which is about 8 miles away from there. Here we have a classic combingation Amethyst/Smoky Quartz crystal with colorless Quartz zones. This crystal has some minor attached matrix with some smaller Quartz crystals. The piece has great luster, with water clear transparency in areas, plus it is about as sharp a Quartz crystal gets. When backlit, one can see slight hexagonal-shaped internal "phantoms" that just float inside the crystal.
