Amethyst

An impressive, large and sculptural two-sided crust of pretty light lavender, translucent amethyst botryoids with frosted surfaces from recent finds in Indonesia. These have caused a major stir at recent shows and are certainly beautiful and artistically fine specimens. Nearly a floater, with only one small attachment on a side. Analysis by Dr. George Rossman at Caltech concluded these should be labeled as amethyst, and not chalcedony or agate. An artistic large example.
