Item Description
Amesite is a rare member of the Serpentine Subgroup of the Kaolinite-Serpentine Group. A striking dense forest of RARE, lustrous, gemmy, pale grayish blue-green hexagonal crystals, to about 1.2 cm, covers the hefty sculptural small cabinet matrix of granular chromite ore from this well-known mine. This color varietal is RARE from here, as most specimens are the chromium-rich pink to lilac varietal. The Saranovskii Mine is famous as the type locality for the beautiful chromium-rich, emerald-green Uvarovite Garnets. Mass is 222 grams. Ex Kurt Hefendehl Collection. This is a rare, amazingly rich example of this extremely rare species and combination. We have not seen these come out since the 1990s - old material!
