Item Description

Behind the Scenes at the Museum: AMNH. A 3 hour walkthrough with head curator Dr. George Harlow, world expert on all things gems and jade, as well as somebody who has been around the museum's amazing collection for decades and knows all the secrets! This trip is for 2 people, with curator team including Dr George Harlow and Jamie Newman, who will teach you about the history of the AMNH firsthand, while viewing some treasures from the collection behind the scenes, and hearing stories. Focus more on minerals or gems (there is a vault!), lapidary carvings dating back a hundred years, jade artifacts or science, or any subject as desired by the auction winner. Includes a "coffee break" in the staff coffee room if needed (the coffee is decent!). Donated by the museum to benefit Mineralogical Record. NOTE: trip scheduling is subject to mutual agreement and availability from now until September 1, 2023.
