Amblygonite (Rare locale)

Item Description

Amblygonite is a rare species from America, found only seldom and in a few small finds over time. Amblygonite from Maine was known as a species back in the days of the old American mineralogists, but good collector specimens are seldom seen - then or now. This specimen features sharp, gemmy crystals to just under 2 cm sitting flat against a quartz matrix. It is actually quite displayable, and shows sharp terminations. Ernie Schlichter himself bought it at some point, and then prepared it from a massive larger piece to expose the crystals, as he notes on his card. More text on the back indicates his belief that he bought it at a Perhams shop (the mine owner) in 1982, and lost it in his house until he found it again in 2001. This is a very rare specimen with complete gem crystals on matrix! It passed from the significant East Coast thumbnail suite of Schlichter, to his friend Shields Flynn, and now to you.
