Item Description
I want to point out that in recent years we have been informed that the majority of what we see on the market labeled as Amblygonite has recently been identified as Montebrasite, and confirmed Amblygonite is now incredibly rare by comparison. This stone was labeled as Amblygonite when it came to us, but it's very likely Montebrasite, which is still a relatively rare stone and is only found from a few localities in top gem material. Stones like this gem are highly sought after by collectors, and deeply appreciated by those who have experience with rare gems. This particular stone has a light greenish-yellow color, and a "Pear Brilliant" cut. With the naked eye, I cannot see any inclusions in this gem, which is quite impressive for a stone this size, but there are tiny inclusions I can see with a loupe. Montebrasite is too soft and brittle for jewelry, so this is almost exclusively a collector's stone, but these gem are not very common today in ANY size, especially over 2 carats! This would make a great addition to any rare stone collection.
