Everybody is familiar with Amber, partially due to the popularity of the Jurassic Park films, but also because it's been a mainstay on the market for decades. Whether you consider this to be a fossil or a mineral specimen, you can't deny that it's just plain cool. When it comes to collectors, many of them love Dominican Amber because it is some of the best quality material in the world. These pieces are beloved because many of them feature superb insect "fossils" frozen within. This is one of the largest and finest quality specimens of this material that we've ever had to offer in the auctions. This wonderful cabinet sized piece of this well-known material is not only highly sculptural, but features nearly a dozens individual insect inclusions (possibly mosquitos or gnats - and what honestly looks like a spider{!}) that are clearly visible through the transparent golden Amber host material. Often we only seen a single insect inclusion in these pieces, so to have multiple insects like this is a real treat. Typically, these pieces are just "lumps", but this one is incredibly three-dimensional and showy and almost resemble a golden "wave" that has been frozen in time. It's not easy to find pieces like this on the market, and this particular piece comes to us from the private collection of Brian Kosnar, who acquired some of the best pieces that came out of the Sabana locality years ago.
