Item Description
This is a fine quality specimen Amber with featuring multiple insect inclusions from the Dominican Republic. It's important to remember that it's rare enough to find a single insect included in Amber, let alone THREE as seen in this piece. Amber has been admired by humans for thousands of years, but actual specimens (especially those with insect inclusions) have been glorified and in the public consciousness for the better part of the last 30 years thanks to the Jurassic Park films franchise. This specimen is from the classic Sabana locality and features a handful of very well-preserved insects completely frozen inside (likely some kind of beetle or termite species). Since the internal clarity of the piece is so high, you can easily see the insects up close. This material is always popular on the market, and even though its more of a fossil than a mineral, it's still a cool display piece of this well known material. A good specimen of this well-known material, and as mentioned, best viewed under the microscope or with a loupe, but we did photograph the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality.
