Item Description

A fine quality and incredibly hard to find FACETED STONE of these well-known classic Ambers from the Dominican Republic. Most Amber you'll see on the market are rough or polished examples, typically maintaining a somewhat ovular shape, but actual faceted gems are extremely rare in my experience. This stone has a wonderful saturated honey-amber color, with excellent internal gemminess. This material is always popular on the market, and even though its more of a fossil than a gem/mineral, it's still a really cool piece of this well known material. The size is notable too, you wouldn't typically expect to see such a large "clean" gem of this material.
From the collection of the beloved mineral dealer and collector Rock H. Currier (1940-2015). Collection #RHC4373B. Rock was the long-time owner of Jewel Tunnel Imports (named after the large open vugs in basalt in India which were often filled with crystals). Rock travelled the world in search of mineral specimens, and built and impressive collection over his lifetime. He was one of the more colorful and unforgettable figures in the mineral world.
