Item Description
An exceptionally large and sculptural specimen of fossiled tree resin (amber) from the well-known, mostly extinct clay pits at Sayreville. The moderately lustrous and translucent honey-yellow piece has very interesting rippled flow patterns on one surface and lignite inclusions are noted. While not suitable for jewelry, this is a very significant large amber specimen from the locale. The amber has been dated at 90-92 MYA (Upper Cretaceous). Rare and choice large amber from the Wouter van Tichelen Collection and comes with large collection label on 8.5 x 11 inch photo quality paper with photos. Housing has covered over many of the pits. A MUST for the locality or species collector!
