Item Description

This is a very attractive display specimen from one of the most storied and well known districts in Colorado. The pegmatites near the Lake George area of Colorado have produced what most collectors and dealers consider to be the finest Amazonite specimens from the standpoint of superb color, top quality, wonderful display specimens and excellent associations. This particular specimen features sharp, amazingly translucent, well-formed, pale blue-green color Amazonite crystals associated with sharp, lustrous, VERY gemmy, Smoky Quartz crystals aesthetically flaring off the top of the specimen. Keep in mind that the best of these specimens (especially with top color) sell for big money these days, and considering that fewer and fewer top quality specimens are found each year, this one would make a great addition to any collection. Keep in mind that this specimen was collected nearly 30 years ago, and was in the collection of both Brian Kosnar and his mother Tresa Kosnar. The catalogue number on the bottom of the specimen (TK254) indicates that this was a hard to find Tresa Kosnar specimen. The great quality of the Smoky Quartz and Amazonite crystals is impressive, although one of the tips of the Smoky Quartz crystals does have a small "rub" near the termination. Don't miss out on this great Colorado "classic".
