Item Description
Vivid turquoise-blue color on this aesthetic miniature cluster of sharp, lustrous, slightly translucent textbook triclinic amazonite crystals from the Kola Peninsula. The large, 1.6 cm crystal is complete, except for the cleaved outside face. The secondary crystal has a cleaved termination, but these are certainly only modest detractions to this showy, highly representative example. Amazonites of this sharpness and quality are very uncommon from this well-known pegmatite deposit. The scattered embedded microcline is a nice contrast. Ex David Burgess Collection, for whom Burgessite is named.
