Item Description
A RARE and sculptural large combination from the Zapot pegmatite of Nevada. Two striking "books" pearlescent pseudohexagonal muscovite plates are dramatically set on the mounded amazonite crystal matrix. The impressive sharp plates are up to 4.0 cm across. There is no damage between the muscovite "books". Muscovite is RARE from the pegmatite. Muscovite is listed by MINDAT for the locale, but there are NO examples in the Photo Gallery. The textbook sharp, lustrous amazonite crystals are light powder-blue with typical for the locale, white sections. The Zapot pegmatite is best known for some of the finest USA topaz specimens and also some fine large amazonite crystal specimens accented with schorl tourmalines. See the 1999 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 30, No. 4. Ex Chet Lemanski Collection and acquired in the 1990s. An exceptional and RARE large example of the combination species and locale.
