Item Description

This is a great display specimen from Colorado. Typically the area around Devils Head is known for the wonderful gem Topaz crystals, but Microclines are known to exist. This particular piece is a RARELY seen Amazonite and Albite (var: "Cleavelandite") from Devils Head! The Amazonite crystals are sharp, with light to medium blue-green color and in good shape overall, with a bit of roughness here and there. Typically, the beset Amazonite specimens in Colorado are found in Park and Teller counties, but this piece was found further north, although I have seen deep green Amazonite from the base of Mount Evans, so they're all over the front range of Colorado. Keep in mind that the best of these specimens (especially with top color) sell for big money these days, and considering that fewer and fewer top quality specimens are found each year, this one would make a great addition to any collection. This piece is from the collection of John Arnaud, who obtained it from a dealer named UC Minerals. Don't miss out on this great Colorado "classic" from an uncommon locality.
