Item Description
A cool association specimen from the storied pegmatites of the Pikes Peak Batholith in central Colorado. This piece features a doubly-terminated, white (Microcline) to soft blue-green colored crystal of Amazonite with distinct crsytal faces and good prismatic form beautifully isolated on a pseudomorph of Hematite / Limonite replacing preexisting Siderite with an oddly placed crystal sharp, lustrous, GEM quality Smoky Quartz piercing into the base of the piece. Small Microcline / Amazonite crystals can be seen on the side of the piece. The color combination with the unique and eye-catching aesthetics makes for a showy and hard to find piece from this small operation in Harris Park. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
