Item Description

An excellent and aesthetic amazonite and cleavelandite miniature from the well-known June, 1986 find in the Key-Hole vug of the Ten-Percenter Mine in Teller County, Colorado. A pristine, sharp, lustrous, 3.4 cm, classic turquoise-blue amazonite crystal is jauntily perched on oxide-coated, bladed cleavelandite matrix. The amazonite has gorgeous blue translucence on the faces and edges. This major find is described in the March-April, 1987 issue of the Mineralogical Record with "very few" recovered in the miniature range. A must for the Colorado collector. Ex Ed Bancroft Collection, son of noted author, collector, curator and educator, Pete Bancroft.
